What importance does new memory technology have these days? I remember when an upgrade of memory technology used to make a difference. The upgrade from PC-100 to PC-133 was fantastic and noticable. But, these days? It's difficult to notice a significant difference between DDR4 vs DDR6, let alone the nanoscopic changes that happen when you increase memory frequency within the same technology. I mean, flex your e-peen as you please, but whatever technology upgrade we'd be putting off to expand capacity has exactly a 0% chance of being worthwhile

Trump put us there.

The war is speeding it up, but the market has been sucking wind since 2023, it's just sucking harder now.

Same pattern as the other recessions I've lived through. First R&D (aka software engineers, etc) gets steady cuts with whatever lie makes the Wall Street cocaine cowboys bonkers hard (Covid over-hiring, AI advances, etc). Then it spreads to the broader economy. Then they throw in the towel and stop lying about the state of the economy when their pet stock market starts melting down, so they have an excuse to fire up the money printer.

This is great. The collapse of the great overpriced university scam. Not a positive I was expecting from AI, but a positive nonetheless.

I graduated nearly 20 years ago. The whole point has always been the piece of paper at the end. I already knew everything they were teaching, had 10 years of industry experience, was bored to death, and constantly molested by irrelevant drivel and egomaniac professors in topics I had already sufficiently covered in both middle and high school.

Now if we can get these memorize and regurgitate robots this system created out of the software industry and their insufferable interview dance, I'll be quite happy.

The problem with giving out of touch eggheads that much power is they're oblivious to unintendended consequences and their own orthodoxy.

Why are most new vehicles on the road SUVs and pickups? The EPA not adjusting to reality of what they incentivize.

Why are we still using weather stations that have been engulfed by urban heat islands to track climate change? It supports the warmimg orthodoxy, even though an impending ice age is much more likely and disasterous.
